Pay as you go mobile broadband data is normally the same price as the contract options with T-mobile and O2. However, a non Windows or Mac user (or if dongle is connected to a router) can easily top up online.
T-mobile is a little more difficult than O2. You get a swipe card to top up with but you still need to select the usage you wish to use to deduct from your credit (daily, weekly or monthly).
