About Martin Fleming
I am the Lead Web Developer at Provoke Design Ltd, which is based in Cheshire but I work remotely from Southampton. I have been with Provoke Design since 2007 and in that time have built a OO PHP 5 framework using MVC for rapid website development (I didn’t like any existing frameworks). As well as my own framework, I have been required to use (and therefore have experience in) Wordpress, MODx and Joomla.
I have expert knowledge and experience in XHTML, HTML5, CSS, XML, PHP 5.3 (including object orientation, namespaces), MySQL, SQLite, Microformats, JQuery, website accessibility and usability.
I am also experienced in Linux server installation and management and can work with Red Hat (rpm) and Debian/Ubuntu (deb) based distributions, which most current distro’s are based on. For Provoke I currently run three Ubuntu servers running software such as Apache, MySQL server, Postfix, Dovecot, PHP, VSFTP and Subversion.
My job also requires a knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation, and website semantics. As for design and creativity, I’m afraid that’s not my thing, but I work alongside one of the best designers I have met in this industry.
I hope you find the posts in my blog are helpful and informative or provide interesting discussions. I am always interested in feedback so If you like or dislike what I write, or if you have found one of my solutions helpful, please leave your comment at the bottom of the post.
